              IN ACTION. SUFFOLKS’
LOSSES. Pte. L. Smith, Longstanton We regret to record the death of Private Lewis Smith, of Longstanton, 3rd Battalion Suffolk Regiment. His parents have received notification from the War Office that he has been killed in action. Private Smith, who was 21 years of age, was attached to the Special Reserve 3rd Suffolk Regt., and at the outbreak of war was called to rejoin his regiment. He was soon despatched to France, and had seen several months hard fighting. Much sympathy is felt for Mr. and Mrs. Smith in their sad loss. They have now one son at the front, Private A. Smith, Coldstream Guards. The other son offered his services, but failed to pass the medical test. |
