Son of Abraham and Minnie Jane Roughton of Rookery Farm, Croft, Lincs. Born Halton (Holegate), enlisted Spilsby and resident Halton Fen, Lincs. Commemorated Menin Road South Military Cemetery. III.C.8.~There is also an individual memorial to this man within the church.~To the glory of God and in loving memory of Fred Edward Roughton 7th Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment. Killed in action at Hooge, France on the 22nd December 1915, aged 20 years.~For some time a Chorister and Cross Bearer in this church. On whose soul Jesus have mercy.
