War 1 Roll of Honour with detailed information

The War Memorial Cottage at Nettleton has on its wall an engraved slate
plaque set in a carved stone surround, which lists the 12 men who died.
In the church of St John the Baptist, a handwritten framed and glazed
Roll of Honour remembers 34 men who served in World War 1, including
10 of those who died. In the Methodist Chapel, an engraved brass plaque
with a wooden surround commemorates one World War 1 casualty.

6/13772, 14th T.R. Bn. Killed in action 16 August 1917, age 22.
Born 1895 Moortown, South Kelsey, Lincs, son of Joseph and Eliza
(née Dowman) Andrews of The Memorial Cottage, Nettleton. Pre-war
occupation farm labourer. Commemorated on Panel 28 to 30, Tyne
Cot Memorial, Belgium.
In
the Methodist Chapel, an engraved brass plaque with a wooden surround

1918, age 18, after 6 weeks on Western Front. Originally enlisted
at age 15¾, and had previously served in France, Egypt and Ireland.
Born 29.8.1899 Moortown, South Kelsey, Lincs. Son of Ada Andrews,
a daughter of Joseph and Eliza Andrews of Memorial Cottage, Nettleton
who brought him up. Commemorated on Panel 52 to 54, Pozières Memorial,
France. |

Born 1898, bpt 20.11.1898 Nettleton, youngest son of Florence Emily

the late William John Baker. Buried in Grave II.F.30, Dovercourt
(All Saints) Churchyard, Essex. |
