In the 1921 Electoral Register he was resident Wellingpore, son of Rev. Herbert and Evelen Powel-Smith. Admitted to Queen Alexandra's Military Hospital at Millbank 9th July 1916 with gun shot wounds to left forearm, discharged 20th July 1916. Admitted to Queen Alexandra's Military Hospital at Millbank with Paraplegia, discharged 23rd July 1918, aged 21, transferred to hospital ship Empire 11 December 1917. Admitted to Queen Alexandra's Military Hospital at Millbank with gun shot wounds to the spine 12 August 1919, aged 23, discharged to disability leave 12th October 1919. Buried on the south side of the church in WELLINGORE (ALL SAINTS) CHURCHYARD, Lincolnshire. Commemorated on window inside the church.

Powell-Smith, vicar of Wellingore, and formerly rector Ruskington, near Sleaford, has been dangerously wounded in the spine during recent operations in Flanders.
