Killed in action flying out of Pescara, Italy in a Martin Marauder II, serial number FB502, when his aircraft was shot down by flak during a raid oni Rimini, 1 of the crew survived and was captured 4 September 1944. Aged 21. Native of Florida, Transvaal, South Africa. Son of Johannes Zinn, and of Martha H. Zinn, of Florida, Transvaal, South Africa. Panel 17, Column 2.
ZOLLO	Michael Angelo	Flight Sergeant (Pilot) 1321643, 600 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. Country of service United Kingdom. Killed in action flying a Bristol Beaufighter IVF, serial number MM873, out of Marcianese, Italy, when his aircraft was lost without trace during a night fighter patrol off the Italian coast in the Anzio area 24 May 1944. Married April to June Quarter 1943 in Portsmouth Registration District, to Madeline I O'Driscolll. In the 1921 census he was aged 10 years 7 months, born Poole, Dorset, son of Giovanni and Antonia Zollo (both Italian), resident 24, West Street, Poole, Dorset. Panel 14, Column 2.
ZURSCHMIEDE	John	Lieutenant 542545V, 44 Squadron, South African Air Force. Country of service South Africa. Killed in action flying out of Cairo West, Egypt in a Douglas Dakota III, serial number KG710, when his aircraft was lost without trace during a flight in bad weather transporting ammunition and petrol from Bari, Italy and Hassani, Greece, 13 December 1944. Aged 20. Native of Johannesburg, Transvaal, South Africa. Son of Robert and Ann Zurschmiede, of Clifton, Johannesburg, Transvaal, South Africa. Panel 17, Column 2.
