This
memorial stands above the village on the main road where it forks
to the high ground round Port Patrick known as the Heughs. It cannot
be missed. It has 28 names of which 11 are WW2. No dates are given.
Regiments and units are given including royal navy ships. Rare Regiments
for this area are the Queen Victoria's Rifles, the New South Wales
Infantry, The Wiltshire Regt. and the Cheshire Regt. The ranks include
a W.Comdr., a couple of Majors and a Riggers Mate. There is a Military
Cross, won in the Second War. (Grid Reference: NX 006550).
