WIGTOWN WAR MEMORIAL

World War 1 & 2 - Roll of Honour with detailed information

This memorial sits in front of the old parish Kirk at the East End of the town beside the road from the Moss of Cree. It looks out over Wigtown Bay and is a fine granite obelisk with a square base; it was unveiled on Sunday 8th October 1922. It has 53 names on it from WW1 and 13 from WW2. There are 3 late additions to WW1 names. The Regiments or units are not given. One name is Louis McGuffie who won the VC in WW1. (Grid Reference: NX436554).
