Private 235081, 1st/5th Battalion, The King's (Liverpool Regiment). Killed in action 20th September 1917. Born and resident Cambridge, enlisted Bury St Edmunds. Formerly 19763, Suffolk Regiment. In the 1911 census he is the son of John and Mary Jane Underwood, aged 19, a House Decorator (as his father was as well), born Chesterton, resident 33 Herbert Street, Chesterton, Cambridge; brother of Ernest Claude Underwood (below). Private 326675, 1st Battalion, Cambridgeshire Regiment. Killed in action 26 September 1917. Enlisted Cambridge. Formerly 4272, Cambridgeshire Regiment. In the 1911 census he is the son of John and Mary Jane Underwood, aged 16, a Shop Assistant, born Chesterton, resident 33 Herbert Street, Chesterton, Cambridge; brother of Arthur Herbert Underwood (above).
