Extract from Cambridge Daily News in 1945: Died of Wounds. — Our picture is of Pte. Douglas Graham Gates, 1st. Cambs. Regiment, whose mother, Mrs. Edith Boyce, of 25, Romsey Terrace, Mill Road, Cambridge, has been officially informed that he died of wounds at Singapore on February 14th, 1942. This is the first news of him received since the capitulation. Aged 20, Pte. Oates was formerly employed by Dales Brewery. |
