WIBMLINGTON - Captain Hill
A stained glass window and
plaque are situated in Wimblington Parish Church. Captain Arthur Joseph
Hill, 1st East Surrey Regiment, was the second son of the Reverend Joseph
& Mrs Emily Hill and was killed in an explosion at Tung Chan (Tungchow)
while serving with the 1st Chinese Regiment on 18th September 1900, aged
37 years. He was present at the taking of Taku, Tientsin and Pekin. Rev
Hill was Rector of Wimblington for 30 years.
