Bishop's Waltham has two forms of memorial. The first is an exterior memorial in the grounds of St Peter's Chruch and is in the form of a stone cross set on a tapering column atop a square plinth standing on a two-stepped stone base. The second is in the form of an illuminated book of remembrance in a glazed frame within the church. Listed here are the 55 names for World War 1 and 30 for World War 2.

MAY, W. E., Corporal, and Hampshire Regiment.
He was in the Army at the outbreak at hostilities, and in 1915 was drafted to the Dardanelles, where he took part in the Landing at Sulva Bay, and was wounded. After the Evacuation of the Gallipoli Peninsula he was transferred to France, and was in action during many engagements and was killed on August 9th, 1916 on the Somme. He was entitled to the 1914-15 Star, and the General Service and Victory Medals.
