Killed in action 27 October 1916 [Newspaper states 26 October 1916]. Aged 27. Born 8 May 1889 in Shrewsbury, Salop, enlisted Manchester, Lancs. Baptised 6 April 1890 in Shrewsbury, St George's, Salop, son of Thomas and Fanny Yates. Son of Fanny Yates, of 25, Beverley St., Moston Lane, Blackley, Manchester. In the 1891 census he was aged 1, born Shrewsbury, Shropshire, son of Thomas and Fanny, resident Hunter Street, Shrewsbury, Atcham, Shropshire. In the 1901 census he was aged 11, born Shrewsbury, Shropshire, son of Thomas and fanny Yates, resident 6, Newthorpe Street, North Manchester, Prestwich, Lancashire. In the 1911 census he was aged 20, born Shrewsbury, Shropshire, a Carter, son of Thomas and fanny Yates, resident 25, Beverley Street, Blackley, Manchester, North Manchester, Lancashire. Buried in COURCELETTE BRITISH CEMETERY, Somme, France. Plot IV. Row E. Grave 18.

YATES—Killed in action, Shoeing-smith F. YATES, 3540, R.F.A., Oct. 26, 1916, age 27, 25, Beverley-st.. Blackley. Death cannot divide. From his sorrowing FATHER, MOTHER, and TOM, 25, Beverley-street, Blackley; also brother HARRY (serving France).

YATES.—Killed in action, Shoeing-smith. F. YATES, 3540, R.F.A., Oct. 26, 1916, age 27, 25, Beverley-st.. Blackley. Ever in thought. From his brother JACK (serving in France), also sister in-law ANNIE, little JACKIE and CLARA, 28, Woodliffe-street, Harpurhey.
