Ordinary Coder P/JX 251542, H.M.S. Hood, Royal Navy. Died at sea 24th May 1941. Aged 28. Son of John Robert Bourdon Abbott and Nellie Abbott; husband of Marjorie Eveline (nee Davies) Abbott. Born 12th April 1913 in Leeds, Yorkshire. B.Sc. In the 1939 Register he was a School teacher (secondary School), married to Marjorie, resident 19, Hillside Road, Runcorn R.D., Cheshire. No known grave. Commemorated on PORTSMOUTH NAVAL MEMORIAL, Hampshire. Panel 53, Column 1.
Basil George Ragdale
Leading Aircraftman 1519715, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. Died 22nd January 1944. Aged 20. Born 10th April 1923. Son of James Hoyle Allen and Beatrice Sarah Allen, of Besses O'th' Barn, Lancashire. B.Sc. In the 1939 Register he was a Student, resident with his parents, James H and Alice Allen, at 93, Bury New Road, Whitefield U.D., Lancashire. Buried in TORONTO (PROSPECT) CEMETERY, Ontario, Canada. Naval and Military Plot. Section 1. Grave 526.
Roy [Charles]
Lieutenant 346093, Royal Engineers attached to 482 Field Company, Royal Bombay Sappers and Miners. During the evening of 16th June 1946, Hagana carried out attacks on road and rail bridges on the frontier of Palestine, causing damage estimated at £250,000; four road and four rail bridges were destroyed during the night, he died of wounds 17th June 1946. Aged 20. Son of William Gordon and Dora Mary Allen, of West Mersea, Essex. Buried in RAMLEH WAR CEMETERY, Israel and Palestine (including Gaza). Plot 7. Row H. Grave 8.
