The Egton St Hilda War Memorial is to be found in the church of St Hilda, Egton Cliff, Egton, Scarborough. It takes the form of a heavily carved board with a oval inset tablet, set on a dark wooden backboard. There are 6 names listed for World War 1. A smaller plaque sits below the memorial with 3 names for Second World War. The names have been sorted into alphabetical order here for ease of reading and research.

Private 4094. 5th Battalion, Yorkshire Regiment. Killed in action 18th September 1916, aged 19 years. Son of Matthew and Jane Ann Agar of Cross Farm, Egton, Yorks. Enlisted Whitby and resident Egton, Yorks. Commemorated Thiepval Memorial. Pier and Face 3A and 3D.

Possibly Private 7230. 9th Battalion, Durham Light Infantry. Killed in action 5th November 1916, aged 22 years. Son of James and Hannah Mary Alderson of Eastfield Farm, Great Smeaton, Yorks. Born Fishburn, DUR, enlisted Grosmont and resident Sleights, Yorks. Commemorated Warlencourt British Cemetery. I.D.29.
BOANAS John
Driver 63111. B Battery, 112th Brigade, Royal Field Artillery. Killed in action 27th May 1918. Born Glaisdale and enlisted Whitby, Yorks. Commemorated Soissons Memorial.
CORNER Joseph
Joseph Surr Corner. Private 33389. 5th Battalion, York and Lancaster Regiment, formerly 45602 Yorkshire Regiment. Killed in action 23rd September 1918, aged 21 years. Born Egton, enlisted Whitby and resident Danby, Yorks. Commemorated Vis-En-Artois Memorial. Panel 9.

Driver 50571. 24th Division Ammunition Column, Royal Field Artillery. Died of wounds 26th August 1916, aged 44 years. Son of John and Ann Elizabeth Frankland of Egton, Yorks. Born and enlisted Whitby, Yorks. Commemorated St Sever Cemetery. B.26.32.
